Nature has given us a number of other materials which also consist of molecularly thick flakes, ie, 2D material, in the same manner as graphene can be exfoliated. Combinations of different 2D materials will be able to create completely new material properties which in the future can meet many specific requirements of various industries. It is likely that the initial graphene will be a substitute for other components in different 2D materials. Graphene in small amounts, for example in plastics, can significantly alter its strength, just like carbon fibers do.
